ECHOES – art exhibition

Art exhibition design – CCB Barcelona

This exhibition invites you to embark on a journey through time, exploring 15 objects that marked a significant turning point in society. These inventions, which have stood the test of time, continue to influence modern innovations, serving as true «echoes from the past.»

The exhibition, to be held at the CCCB Museum in Barcelona, presents a carefully curated selection of iconic objects from the second half of the 20th century, which not only defined culture and technology but also shaped the social transformations of their era. While each object may seem unrelated at first glance, they share an intrinsic connection in their ability to shape the present and influence the future.

The exhibition space is divided into three distinct areas, each accessed through different entrances marked by color codes. Each section maintains a uniform scenography, with carpeting running through the space, centrally illuminated pedestals, and platforms lit from below to display these iconic pieces. The objects are housed in «cubicles» made of semi-transparent fabric, creating a balance between privacy and transparency, allowing visitors to catch glimpses of the surrounding space without fully separating the pieces.

The layout does not follow a linear path; visitors are free to choose their own route through the exhibition, encouraging a personalized and open-ended experience. This approach is complemented by visual aids such as advertisements and commercial videos featuring the objects in their historical context, offering visitors a deeper understanding of their significance.

The main entrance, designed as a ramp, serves as a «tunnel» into the past, illuminated by colorful LEDs to create an immersive effect. The lighting throughout the exhibition is soft and focused, with each object illuminated individually, while audiovisual pieces are spread throughout the space, enhancing the visual and emotional experience of the objects.
